Check It Out!
We've added a new calendar option! Hopefully this will help everyone (including Mrs. Berry!) stay organized, and know when all of the important events are taking place for NJHS. We do a lot (seriously, A LOT) around here, so this calendar will definitely be subject to changes, edits and revisions. Also, additions. Thank you for your patience and understanding!
Any event with a green dot is a required meeting, and I will plan on students attending, unless I have been previously notified and other arrangements have been made. This is part of the membership requirements, and will not count toward the volunteer hours.
Any event with a red dot is an additional volunteer opportunity, and can be used for the volunteer hours. These opportunities are presented to all NJHS students, but please remember to check for prior commitments when you sign up! These are not required, they are just opportunities that come up as we go, and opportunities that I am trying to create/present as the year progresses.

Welcome to NJHS at Clifford Smart Middle School! This page is under ongoing construction, but please stay tuned for important updates and information that you will need to know, and check back regularly!
At Clifford Smart, NJHS is reserved for students in the 8th Grade, only. In order to be considered for an invitation to apply to NJHS, all of the following criteria must be met by the 3rd Quarter of the 7th Grade:
* a cumulative GPA of 3.9 for both the 6th and 7th Grade
* only 1s and 2s in Citizenship for both 6th and 7th Grade
* able to demonstrate examples of Leadership and Service within the community.
Once applications have been returned from those applicants who have been invited to apply for NJHS, the Faculty Council at CHS reviews all of the applications and makes the final decisions as to which students will be asked to join NJHS for the upcoming year.
All applications and decisions for the current year (2019-2020) have been made and students have been notified. The next round of applications and invitations will be out in late April of 2020.

A note about the Math Tutoring Sign Ups: Originally, all students were asked to sign up for two spots. We very quickly ran out of spaces, and this is because of two reasons:
1) The math club is requesting only two NJHS volunteers per meeting, as opposed to the unlimited volunteers that we have had in the past,
2) Some students are signed up for more than two volunteer positions.
If you are signed up for more than two positions, I'd like to ask that you consider opening some spots for other students so that they also have the opportunity to fulfill this obligation. Thank you so much for your understand and cooperation!
If you were not able to get signed up for a spot with the Math Tutoring, please don't panic. I am sure that I will be able to help you secure an equally worthy and challenging volunteer position throughout the year. Thank you!
